A Place for Members

This is a place for members, attenders and friends of NJUMC. You will find information pertaining to the NJUMC.

Yearnings

I believe many of you reading this would like to grow spiritually. At some point, you learned about Jesus. You heard about how Jesus loves you and how he came so that you might live with him even after you died. This was good news. All those sins that seem to trip you up were forgiven in an instant. You finally had peace.

But then life happens. We get distracted. We find ourselves running around trying to keep up our households, our jobs, and our families. Little by little, ‘spiritual’ things are left behind. The sad thing is, our peace is left behind too. We end up settling for a life that is nice and predictable, but leaves us wondering if there isn’t more. Perhaps deep within us there is a yearning or maybe even a wondering that maybe you were created for more.

You were. You were created to have an intimate relationship with the one who created you and the one who loves you. God has invited you to discover the depths of his grace, love, forgiveness, and peace. Many of us yearn for that, but everyday distracts tends to squeeze that desire out of us.

I believe we all need connection with God. When our connection with God is broken, our lives suffer, our relationships get strained, and we lose our sense of peace. Somehow, it is as if our lives know something is wrong. St. Augustine was reflecting this when he wrote (paraphrased), “Our hearts are restless until they rest in God.”

The good news is that God is always inviting us. His love is always available.

Safety Training Meeting

There will be a safety training meeting Sunday May 24th at 10 am. If you have not already attended this training and want to work with the children you will need to attend this meeting.

Graduation Sunday

Wow! What a Sunday. We honored our graduates, both high school and preschool. It is always great to hear what the high school graduates are planning to do and having the honor of praying for them. I continue to pray that God would be the center of their lives and they would find life in Jesus.

The preschool graduation program just has to be experienced. Over 200 people came to the second service to see and hear what the preschoolers had been doing all year. They did a great job singing songs, telling their favorite bible story and even counting to twenty in French! Even though I had no idea if they did it right...it was still pretty impressive.

We had many guests attend our church. They have all been touched by the ministry of your church in someway. The children have felt the touch of God through this ministry. Kathy Vorm does a great job as the director and the kids love her. But you are a part of this ministry too. If you are a part of NJUMC, then you have helped to support this important ministry. Even though the school year is coming to a close, remember to pray for Kathy and the preschool ministry. It is making a difference.

SOAP II Meeting

Our second SOAP meeting will take place June 1st at 6 pm. If you remember, SOAP is a simple method to integrate scripture and prayer into our daily lives. You don't have to be a bible scholar, or even know anything about the bible to use SOAP. Come and learn the method and draw closer to God through Scripture and prayer!
